Pacific Coast Conducting Clinic

“As educators, we can get stuck in the “those who can…those who can’t…” mentality. Developing and refining your conducting talent and your artistic self while maintaining and balancing your teaching career is quite a challenge. Not only is progressing as a conductor beneficial for your students, but also for developing your own artistic voice and better understanding of our artistic medium. You are modeling being a life-long learner to your students while awakening the very reason you are a musician-artist...the pursuit of beauty.”

-Jim Kollias

About us...

Conceived by Jim Kollias and Daniel Alfred Wachs in 2024, the Pacific Coast Conducting Clinic is officially a program presented by the Beckman High School Orchestra Boosters, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

The Pacific Coast Conducting Clinic is geared toward orchestra directors of all levels who would like hands-on experience to improve their own performance as well as their ensembles. The four-day clinic includes orchestral conducting opportunities, one-on-one and group instruction, and rehearsal techniques. You will be able to improve your strategies for rehearsal, improve your conducting technique, and develop practical skills and strategies to improve your ensembles. Sessions are designed to provide a growth experience for all levels of orchestra teachers.  The four-day clinic includes orchestral conducting opportunities, one-on-one and group instruction, and rehearsal techniques.
